Wilma Jackson, a beacon of warmth and care in her community, was called to her eternal home on November 30, 2025. Born on July 9, 1947 in Parkin Arkansas, Wilma grew to embody the love and nurturing spirit that would define her life's work and relationships. She departed this life in Silver Springs, Maryland, leaving a legacy of compassion and service that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Wilma's early years in Lorain, Ohio laid a foundation of faith and resilience, qualities that shone through her entire life. Her commitment to caring for others led her to pursue a career in healthcare. Wilma's hands were extensions of her heart, providing healing and comfort to countless individuals throughout her career.
In her professional journey, Wilma's gentle demeanor and unwavering dedication to the patients made her a beloved figure in the medical community. Her colleagues often spoke of her as not just a coworker, but as a friend and mentor whose influence extended far beyond the walls of the hospital.
Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of Wilma's life, guiding her every step and decision. She lived her beliefs through her actions, always ready to extend a helping hand or word of encouragement. Her friends and family knew her as a steadfast presence, a woman who live her faith through service and unconditional love.
Wilma's love for cooking was another expression of her nurturing spirit. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she would often prepare her signature banana pudding, coconut cake, collard greens and fried chicken for her friends and family to enjoy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Talven Jackson; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lane; both parents, James H. Harris Sr., and Bernice (nee Lane) Harris; brothers, James, Harold and Thomas Harris.
Wilma will be truly missed. She is survived by her nephew, Isaiah Harris Sr, one great nephew, Isaiah Harris Jr, of Lorain,Ohio: two nieces, Imani Harris and Aiyana Harris, all of Lorain, Ohio, and a host of cousins, relatives and very special friends: Janie (Martha) Cuffie, Charles Cuffie, Daisy Thompson, Catherine Dowtin, Logan Antigone, King Ayettey Zubaidah, and spiritual brother Bishop Dennis Johnson.
The family will receive friends at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Road, Sheffield Twp., on Saturday, December 27 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, with the service following at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
