William P Gormley

William P. Gormley “Billy G.”, son of Lena and Francis Gormley, born April 1, 1938, has gone to be with our Lord on April 14, 2026.

Bill attended school in Bethany, Missouri, where he participated in their basketball and football teams after school. Bill joined the US Navy, serving from 1955–1958. Bill loved all sports, but most of all golfing and bowling. He was very proud of his Irish heritage, and loved to dance and sing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Roberta (Bobbie) Gormley;  son, Scott of Columbus; stepchildren, Tracy Barbee and Theodore Hiles; four grandsons, Brandon Epps, Keith Barbee, T.J. and Christen Hiles; and his. first great granddaughter due in July, a second great-grandchild due in December; brother, Mike (Karen) Gormley of Woodridge, Illinois; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wesley Gormley and Charles Gormley.

Bill was a life member of the Knights of St. Johns 281, Amvets 47, VFW 8686, American Legion, and Elks Lodge 1301. The family would like to thank the VA for all of their help and support, as well as Mercy Health New Life Hospice by Compassus, who had taken wonderful care of him in his final days.

A funeral mass, officiated by Father Daniel Divits, will be held April 23, 2026, at 9:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8th Street and Reid Avenue, Lorain Ohio. Burial will be the same day at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio 44273, at 2:15 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s name to the VA or to Mercy Health New Life Hospice by Compassus.
