Ruth F. Nelson (nee. Daniels) age 90 of Sheffield Village, Ohio, departed her life here on earth in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 5th, 2025.
Preceding Ruth in death is her loving and faithful husband of 65 years, Robert Nelson. Her parents, the late Ross and Stella (nee. Grimm) Daniels; her eight brothers, Orrville, Raymond, Arnold, Rythe, Richard, Roscoe; her twin brothers, Ruby, and Elmer; and her four sisters, Hazel Moore, Grace Henning, Edna Dillow and Ollie Daniels.
Surviving Ruth’s passing are her three children, son Daniel Nelson of Issaquah, Washington; Daughters Sue Baker of Sheffield Village, Ohio, and Brenda Nelson of Lorain, Ohio; three grandchildren, Derek Baker(Ariana), Zachary Baker (Ashley), and Megan Hollis(Michael); also her four great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Breanna, Makenna Baker, and Maddux Hollis; along with a host of nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Ruth was born on February 10th, 1935, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She and her family would later relocate to West Union, Ohio where she attended high school and graduated in 1956. After graduation Ruth and Bob married on November 3rd, 1956, and are now spending eternity together. Ruth became an LPN for Adams County Hospital in West Union, Ohio. She also was the manager of the Glad Tidings Christian Bookstore in Portsmouth, Ohio. She and her family owned and operated Nelson’s Panhandle Grocery in Panhandle, Ohio and after relocating to the greater Cleveland area she went on to hold management positions with Sears and the Life Uniform Shop.
She served the lord faithfully all her life and was determined to raise her children in church, and that she did. When traveling in the car, and the kids were restless, Ruth would begin singing. Before long there was a five-part harmony being heard and the family sang together for many years.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 9th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio, with services immediately following at 12:00 pm, officiated by Pastor William Alford. Burial will be Tuesday, June 10th at Mc Kendree Cemetery in Nile Township, (Stout) Ohio at 1:00 pm.
