Robert Hancock

Rev. Robert E. Hancock, 92 of Lorain, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was born in Belle, West Virginia to James and Laura Hancock. Robert was a corporal in the US Marine Corps having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from US Steel as an electronic technician after 30 years. Robert was a Baptist Minister since 1980 who enjoyed playing guitar and other string instruments. He was an amazing man, chopping wood even at age 90. He loved working on cars and even worked on one the night before he passed away. Robert was the patriarch of a large family that all loved him dearly.  He was also loved by everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of almost 69 years, Lois (nee Taylor); children, Robert A., and Rhonda Largent (Gerry); grandchildren, Teddy Hancock (Dawn), Joshua Hancock, Heather Kincer (Jeff Kent), Luke Kincer (Rita), Marcella Damron (Michael), and Madeline Largent (Jake Shaffer); 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a sister, Wanda Wilson (Robert).

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James and Joseph Hancock; and 2 brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends at the Good Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 42503 Butternut Ridge Rd., Elyria on Monday, May 22,  from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at which time the funeral service will begin followed by the  burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
