Ramon “Ray” Rivera Sr., born on May 2, 1955, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 2, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. Ramon graduated from Southview High School in 1973. 

Ramon is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Rivera and his children; son, Ramon Rivera Jr., and stepsons, Matthew Gatchell and Chad Gatchell. Additionally, his sister, Frances Torres, holds a special place in the family's heart. Ramon also leaves behind his grandchildren, Austin Gatchell, Natalia Rivera, Sophia Rivera, and Gabriella Rivera.
 
Ramon was the first of his family born in the United States, as they migrated from Puerto Rico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Natividad Rivera and Victor Rivera Sr.; sibling, Victor Rivera Jr; and daughter, Ivette Rivera.


Having devoted 30 years to a successful career at Ford Motor Company at Brookpark Ford, Ramon served as a Committeeman of the local UAW 1250 for two decades, advocating tirelessly for his fellow union brothers. He took pride in representing and supporting his colleagues, giving the working man a voice.
 
In his personal life, Ramon found joy in traveling, spending quality time with his family, and frequently visiting Florida, particularly Clearwater Beach, a place he adored for its sunshine, lively atmosphere, and delicious cuisine. Above all, he treasured moments shared with his wife and grandchildren.
 
A celebration of Ramon's life will be hosted by the family in early October. Further details regarding this event will be shared via social media as the date approaches.


Ray will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication, kind spirit, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around him. May his legacy continue to inspire us all.
