The Lord God called Ralph H. Grattan, III home on January 11. 2022, after a long journey. He resided in Lorain the last few years. Ralph was born on August 20, 1943 in Fort Monroe, VA to Esther (Tabor) and Ralph J., II.
Ralph grew up in Sheffield Lake, OH and graduated from Brookside High School, where he had athletic status in all sports; football, basketball, baseball, and track. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green State University. Ralph taught middle school in Lorain County Schools for three years and coached boys basketball. He furthered his education in business accounting and began his career in business/manufacturing until 2016 at which time he retired.
Ralph loved history and became a Civil War Re-enactor, especially noting his participation in the 135 th Re-enactment at Gettysburg, PA. He loved traveling, most especially, San Francisco, CA.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Esther Grattan. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly A. Grattan of 31 years; son, Richard W. Hennes, II of McKinney, TX; daughter, Nicole A. (Hennes) and Gregory Supers of Amherst, OH; grandchildren, Alexandra P. Studer, R.J. Hennes, and Charlie T. Supers; and great grandson, Giovanni; brothers, James Grattan of Vermilion, OH, Paul and Shellie Grattan of Sheffield Lake, OH; and sister, Joyce Thursby and family of Wiley, TX; along with many nieces, nephews, and loving cousins from Pittsburgh, PA.
