Petronilla Thomas-Nazario

Petronilla Thomas-Nazario, 74 of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. She played piano and was the church musician for many years, as well as being a gospel group leader for the Northern Gospel Lights. Petronilla loved her family and baking.  She was the caretaker for her older sister in Alabama for many years after retiring from Lake Pointe, having worked there for over 30 years.

Petronilla is survived by her children, Rodney L. (LePreece) Thomas Jr, Minister Jason A. (Tanika) Thomas, and Devin Thomas, all of Lorain; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; step-mother Doris Smith of Detroit; siblings, Anne Cogborn of Alabama, Alberta Francis of Lorain, Gladys Taylor of Lorain, Jewel Carlton of Lorain, Shawn Smith of Detroit, and Ondrakus Smith of Detroit; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Petronilla was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Smith; husband Jose Nazario; and siblings, John Adams, Albert Smith, Joe Smith and Ruth Pugh.

The family will receive friends at the Living Word Church, 2002 E. 28^th St., Lorain on Thursday, July 13 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm and from 10:00 am-10:30 am on Friday, July 14, with the homegoing service to begin at 10:30 am Friday. Minister Jason A. Thomas will be the officiant and Bishop Rodney L. Thomas, Jr. will be the eulogist. Interment to follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
