Luis Cordero-Garcia

Luis Cordero-Garcia, 90, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026. Born on January 20, 1936, in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, he was a member of Sacred Heart Church, served in the U.S. Army, and worked at Roosevelt Naval Base in Puerto Rico before retiring from BASF in Elyria in 1988.

Preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Cordero; parents, Luis Cordero and Benita Garcia; brothers and sisters, Catalina Cordero, Miguel Angel Alvarez, and Roberto Cordero. He is survived by his beloved sons: Jesus Cordero and wife Noemi, Roberto Cordero, Br. Ralph Cordero S.J., and Luis Cordero; grandchildren: Jesús E. Cordero, Giselle Cordero, and Yesenia Cordero; great-grandchildren: Elisamuel Colón Cordero, Yadiel Colón Cordero, and Jesús Shediel Cordero; brothers and sisters: Harry Cordero and his late wife Carmen, Adalberta Cordero, America Cuadrado (nee Cordero) and her husband Carlos, Julio Cesar Cordero, Lydia Evans (nee Cordero) and her late husband Paul Evans, and Osvaldo Cordero. A loving Tio Guiso to many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends who adored him and will deeply miss him. He left this world surrounded by love, with his son Roberto, and Pamela DeJesus Cordero Letenyei, whom he helped raise, holding his hand. A passionate gardener, Luis loved cultivating beautiful flowers and sharing delicious fruits and vegetables with friends and community. His family and gardening were his greatest joys.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8th 2026, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain, OH 44055 The visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., until the funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. Military Honors to be rendered after funeral service.

Private Burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio, at a later date.
