Judy "Bonnie" Mae Canterbury

Judy Mae “Bonnie” Canterbury (née) Picione passed peacefully into eternal life on October 1, 2025, at home surrounded by her beloved son and daughter at 84 years old.

Born May 25th, 1941, in Lorain, the daughter of Vito J. and Marjorie Picione (née) Tremaine, and foster parents Charles and Selina Josephine Sanders.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Bill Lee Canterbury Sr. (d. 1988); son, Anthony Canterbury Sr.; parents, Charles & Selina Sanders, Vito & Marjorie Picione; brother, Hank Picione; sister-in-law, Patricia Picione; grandsons, Anthony Canterbury Jr., Merle Pemberton Jr.; uncle, Nelson David Tremaine; son-in-law & “birthday buddy”, Fred D. Brown; daughters-in-law, Elli (Gary) Canterbury, Tacie (Anthony Sr.) Canterbury; great-granddaughter, Ariel E. Brown; niece, Amy Churchill Thompson

Bonnie is remembered by three sons and two daughters, Gary L. Canterbury, Lloyd A. Canterbury II, Bill Lee Canterbury Jr., Victoria (Michael) Rosado, and Christine V. Canterbury. She is survived by sisters, Lorrie Churchill, Charlyn Friel (Jack); brothers, Rico Picione and Marc (Donna) Picione. Bonnie was a loving grandmother to Tina Marie, Arlin, Brian, Karen, Justin, Brianne, Karissa, Athiena, Kalyn “Bee”, Ryan, Nicholas, Tana, Mandie, Jennifer, Mick, Alyssa, and Shannon. Bonnie was a great-grandmother to 27 children, and a great-great grandmother to 11 children. She leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly.

Bonnie was a formidable, talented, and caring woman. During her life, she worked as a realtor, an accomplished equestrian, horse trainer and 4-H advisor, and served as councilwoman for 2 terms. She loved entertaining, cooking and baking for all. Bonnie loved golfing with her husband, Bill, and riding on his Harley in the mountains. In the last 25 years she golfed with her daughter, Victoria and son, Lloyd, and traveled to many of Lloyd’s golf tournaments. She loved playing cards and bingo, writing poetry, and sipping tea. Bonnie did it her way!

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League in Elyria or to the Lorain County 4-H Council.

A memorial visitation will be held at 9:00 am on October 25, 2025, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio, followed by the memorial mass at 10:00 am. Private burial will be held at a later date.
