With sadness I announce the passing of our beloved Judith Leah Podmanik on Sept. 30th 2025. Judy was born June 21, 1941 in Lorain Ohio, and was the youngest of ten children. She lived a life full of love and laughter, surrounded by family.
As a teenager Judy joined the National Honor Society, where she learned her love for speech and debate and which also led to the meeting of her future husband, Edward Sr.
She was the proud mother to three sons, Edward, Jr., Paul G., and Thomas A., and devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren; Valerie, Christopher, Carrie, Nicholas, Matthew, and Sarah Podmanik, and Samantha Hruschak (Stephen); and 6 great grandchildren, who all brought her endless pride and joy.
Judith was known for her radiant smile and warm hugs. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she loved so dearly, as she was a woman of faith and quiet wisdom. But of all the titles she carried; mother, grandma, or Gigi were her most cherished.
She had a passion for learning, and you could always find her somewhere singing. As a member of the Avon Lake Women's Chorus, she would go to local communities and sing, taking pride in giving back to the community and making others smile. She was an active member in the church and loved bible study.
Judith will always be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humor, strong faith and open arms. Her home was always a safe place for anyone to come, and she loved everyone just as they were. She will be missed beyond words.
Judy is survived by her grandchildren; great grandchildren; siblings, Paula Locke, Hazel White, and Kenneth Thompson (Jean); her daughter-in-law, Ruth Podmanik; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Hazel Thompson; husband, Edward Podmanik, Sr.; all three of her sons; and two brothers and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Rd., Sheffield Twp. on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 pm, with the family receiving friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
