James "Big Jim" William Hagerman - November 1, 1958 - September 16, 2026

Beloved father, son and brother, James William Hagerman Sr. (Big Jim), passed away unexpectedly from heart failure on September 16, 2026, at 1:20 a.m. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, but was raised and lived in Lorain, Ohio his entire life; until he proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a carefree man who spent his working years in the concrete industry in Lorain, Ohio.

His favorite pastimes were fishing, building a fire, sharing his wisdom, and taking his family to Turtle Pond. He was a true country man/city man, “a man of the woods.” He absolutely adored his grandchildren and cherished quality time with them.

We’ll always remember him for his love of playing his guitar and Rock & Roll. He enjoyed all Cleveland sports teams, but his favorite was the Cleveland Indians and, of course, Ohio State (O-H-I-O)!

Big Jim was preceded in death by his father, Gordon W. Hagerman; uncle, David Hagerman; grandchildren, Anna Marie Carver-Hagerman and Steven Kory Hagerman Jr.

Survived by his children; sons, James Hagerman Jr., Paul Hagerman both of Lorain, Ohio, Christopher Hagerman (Skyler Kingsley) of Elyria, Ohio, Steven Hagerman of Cowen, West Virginia, Timothy (Tebogo) Hagerman of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Jaime Hagerman of Lorain, Ohio; mother, Nora Hagerman; brothers, George Hagerman, And Gordon Hagerman; his 21 grandchildren, Cathryn Shepherd, Daniel Ott, Brianna Carver, Sophia Hagerman, Ava Zingales, Dylan Hagerman, Jenna Hagerman, Damon Vazquez, Amara Hagerman, Anastasia Hagerman, Paige Hagerman, Kory Hagerman, Caylee Hagerman, Theo Hagerman, Teegan Hagerman, Kiley Hagerman, Tia Eblin, Curtis Eblin Jr., Mirayah Nalepka, Kaleb Nalepka, Karsyn Nalepka; and 2 great-grandchildren, Evelynn Shepherd, and Adalynn Carver; many beloved nieces and nephews. And despite their separation years ago, he still loved and appreciated his ex-wife, Sherry Hagerman.

Family invites friends to the visitation on Thursday, September 24, 2026, starting at 11:30 a.m., at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Road in Sheffield Township. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Following the service, a procession will be led to his final resting place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
