Iona M. Behringer, 91 of Sheffield Village went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She grew up in Cool Ridge, WV and moved to Northeast Ohio when she was 18. Iona worked on an assembly line at American Greetings for several years; ran a concrete statue business for many years, and later in life took a course at LCCC from H & R Block and did all of the business and family’s tax returns. She taught herself airbrushing and painting and was so good at it that she supplied concrete statues to other businesses as well. Her statues can be seen around the area. Iona was a woman of many talents and had an incredible work ethic. She loved sewing, making crafts, and crocheting, crocheting many afghans and other beautiful items for her family. Iona had an amazing vegetable garden and ran the family farm. She was an amazing cook and besides preparing great meals for her family, she would make homemade pizza every Saturday, much to the delight of the neighbors as well. She loved her New Haven Baptist Church family and was a member there for many years. But above all of these, Iona’s family was the most important thing to her, and she will be greatly missed by them.
Iona is survived by her loving children, Sandra Buffington (Ron), Patricia Wedell (John), Linda DeChant (David), Steven Jones, Lawrence Douglas Behringer III (Traci), and Paula Abbott (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Vance Behringer (Laurie), Tia Rosene (Bill), Christopher Tallman (Therese), Kevin Klingshern, Ross DeChant (Cassie), Reid DeChant (Alex), Mallory Oakley (Alex), Emma Jones, Sara Jones, Samantha Behringer, Taylor Behringer, Carli Behringer, Nick Erich, Derek Abbott, and Riley Iona Abbott; many great grandchildren; and siblings, James Pack (Joanne), Archie Pack, Don Pack (Myrtle), Brenda McFadden (Joe), Rhonda Winders, and Jerry Pack (Margaret).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Denzel and Winnie Pack; husband, Lawrence Douglas Behringer, Jr.; brother, Wayne Pack; and sisters, Mary Lilly and Nancy Pack.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:30 am-12:30 pm at New Haven Baptist Church, 5290 French Creek Rd., Sheffield, Ohio, followed by the funeral service at 12:30 pm, and then the burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
