Pastor Gene G. Collings, 94 of Elyria passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was a pastor for about 70 years of his life, retiring from Jesus Christ Community Church in Elyria. He most recently was associated with Christ Church in Columbia Station where he worked with and taught a senior group. He was well loved everywhere that he served. Gene was also a published author. His whole world revolved around his beloved wife, June, who passed away in December, 2023. He is going to be greatly missed.

Gene is survived by his children, Dean Collings (Susan), Dr. David Collings (Sharon), Darla Niedzielski (Pete), and Daniel Collings; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; plus one on the way; and a brother Ira Lee Collings of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Violet Collings; his beloved wife, June; and 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Christ Church, 23080 Royalton Rd., Columbia Station. The funeral service at the church will begin at 11:00 am, officiated by Dr. David Collings, and followed by the interment at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
