Douglas E Smith

Douglas E. Smith, 72 of Elyria passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025. He worked for many years as a Mechanic for Thomas Radiator. Doug was a regular “Mr. Fix-it”. If he couldn’t fix it, then it truly was broken. He enjoyed cooking, especially barbecues, and was an all around good guy, often going out of his way to help others. Doug also was the quintessential “Horse-show Dad”, taking care of horses and attending shows all over. He was simply a very friendly, social guy who also enjoyed being a bit of a jokester as well. He will be missed by his many friends and family.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Adrianne “Kitty” (nee Hritz); daughter, Stephanie Thompson (Alan); grandsons, Phillip and Jacob Thompson; brother, Wayne Smith (Peggy); and sister, Sandee Ruth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Barbara Smith.

The family will be planning a celebration of Doug’s life in the future.
