Douglas G “Jerry” Haynes, 71 years of age, of Vermilion, passed away on Monday, February 8th, 2021 after a brief illness.
Jerry is survived by his former wife , Kathleen Haynes (Mayer); his children, Terry Douglas Haynes, Andrea Renee (Andrew) Burkey, and Ashley Nicole (William) Campbell; grandchildren, Caeleb Oliver, Liberty Oliver, Scarlett Oliver, Willow Campbell, Paisley Burkey, and Trinity Campbell; his brothers, Richard (Beverly) Haynes and B.Michael (Melanie) Haynes; and his sister, Brenda (Alan) Crisp. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda (Daniel) Molter; his half brother, Shannon Johnson; and his parents Herminie and Carl Fortson, and Bennie G. Haynes.
Jerry was born on March 15, 1949 in Memphis Tennessee to the late Herminie and Bennie Haynes. He was the second of five children, and moved to Ohio with his family when he was 9 years old. He graduated from Vermilion High School and worked for Ford Motor Company until retirement after 30 years of service.
Jerry enjoyed playing pool, and made a lot of money over the years between tournaments, lessons, and occasionally hustling the many that knew him as “Turbulence.” He also loved riding his motorcycle and making trips to Mississippi to visit family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family.
A private celebration of life will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church. Pastor Cliff Morris will officiate.
