It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Jean Lane, who passed away on September 29, 2026 at the age of 72. Donna was born on October 26, 1953 in Grantsville, West Virginia, to Paul Lane and Ella Mae Lane.
Donna spent most of her life in Elyria, Ohio but during the last two years of her life, she lived in Lorain with her long-time boyfriend, Mike Mitchell.
She was a woman who loved her family deeply. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews meant the world to her. She treasured the time she spent with them and created memories that will remain in their hearts forever.
Donna had a special love for cooking and enjoyed preparing food for her family and loved having the family around her and sharing meals, laughter and everyday moments together. She also enjoyed going to garage sales and thrift stores, always excited to see what treasures she might find. She loved to read, especially the Bible, and her faith was an important part of her life.
Donna is survived by her three sons, Gary Wayne Leach, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Angela of Elyria, Stephen Michael Leach and James Robert Leach and daughter-in-law, Marjorie.
She leaves behind four grandchildren, Branden Leach of Elyria, Brittany Leach of Elyria, Ayana of Lorain and Jenna of Ashland. She was a proud great-grandmother to Kaden Gleba of Elyria and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her great-granddaughter, baby Alayah.
Donna is also survived by her three step-grandsons, Brandon, Dylan and Jordan and her two step-great-grandsons, Arthur and Marcus, all of Elyria.
As the oldest of nine siblings, Donna held a special place in her family. She is survived by Bill Lane and his wife, Linda of Elyria, John Lane and his wife, Shari, of Elyria, and Brenda Cray of Kentucky and her boyfriend, Colin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ella Mae Lane, brothers, Danny Paul, Randy, Gary Lee, Charles and David.
Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting part of our lives. We will cherish the memories, hold her close in our hearts and find comfort in knowing that her love and legacy will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
Rest peacefully, Donna. You were deeply loved, you will be forever missed, and you will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be scheduled at a later date.
Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
