Dolores Jean Wyer born September 7, 1936 and died of natural causes on April 21, 2026. She split her childhood between Lorain, Ohio and Calexico, California. She graduated from Lorain High School and went on to Eastern Michigan University where she met her late husband, Richard. She completed her teaching degree at Kent State University and her masters at Cleveland State University. She taught in the Avon Lake School system where she proudly served as the president of the teachers union for several years. Dee loved her social clubs and going to plays with friends. Their Friday night dinner group also brought many years of joy with friends. She also loved to travel, seeing all 50 states and countries including Scotland, Wales, England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Reading was another passion, with mysteries being her favorite genre. Dee was a member and served the Lorain Christian Temple church for over 70 years. She was a devoted wife of 69 years to Richard and loving mother of Scott, Chip (Jean), Robb (Karen) and Ann (Bill). She loved her 7 grandchildren Erin (Jason), Brian (Jessica), Audrey, Amy, Allison, Madison, and Jamison. And her three great granddaughters Macie, Lila, and Paisley.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
A memorial service will be held at Wyers-Bollinger funeral home at 2900 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH on Sunday, June 14th from 2-5 pm. A short service to start at 5:00.
