David A Woodrum

September 20, 1949 — January 21, 2024

Lorain

David A. Woodrum, 74 of Lorain. David’s 4 month fight with stage 4 lung cancer ended peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at his home with his daughters and grandson Hartford II by his side. He was born on September 20, 1949 in Wyden, West Virginia to Charles and Phyllis (Sutton) Woodrum. In 1951 his family moved to Grafton, Ohio, where he finished his youth. Then in 1967 David moved with his Uncle Kent to Amherst, where he had his first real job working for Sutton Sohio. This is where he met the love of his life, Darlene Mellon, whom he married in 1969. In the early 90’s they enjoyed traveling often. David worked at US Steel, and retired from Republic Steel in 2010, after 38 years of committed employment. He spent 17 years caring for his beloved wife, following an accident until her passing. He always found humor and positive in all situations. David was a collector of many things. His greatest accomplishment in life was his dedication and love for his family. He was a solid in all their lives. David loved fishing and spent his retirement years fishing for the perfect bluegill. He received over 100 Fish Ohio pins, and enjoyed his family fishing trips.

David is survived by his loving children, Charles T. (Brandy), Christine N., and Denise (Jack) Connone; grandchildren, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Hartford II, Nathaniel, Lauren, Christian, and Sky; great grandchildren, Ri, Ady, Seger, Rhett, VanHalen, and Tripp; sister, Sarah Cricks (Bart); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Phyllis; wife, Darlene; son, Eric David; brothers, Robert and Phillip Woodrum; and a sister, Susan Owens.

A private family service will be held in West Virginia where his ashes will be joined with his wife’s and son spread to the four winds in Braxton County, WV.
