Clell Sumpter

Clell Sumpter, 97 of Lorain, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 16, 2022. He was a World War II Army veteran. Clell was proud of the fact that he worked for Ford Motor Co. for 36 years, and was retired from Ford for 36 years as well. At one time, he participated in a commercial for Ford which was aired during the Super Bowl. Clell was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed bowling and shooting pool and just being with people. He loved working at his church doing God’s work.

Clell is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara J. (nee Hampton); his children, Brenda Higgins (Gregory) and Susan Knauff (Mark); four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21 at New Haven Baptist Church, 5290 French Creek Rd., Sheffield, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. The funeral service will begin at noon, followed by the interment at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. Wyers- Bollinger Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
