Carmelo Ramos Alvarez passed away peacefully on February 24,2024. Carmelo is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen (Nieves) Alvarez; sons, Israel and Hiram Alvarez; seven grandchildren; sister, Illia (Alvarez) Gomez, and husband, Saturnino Gomez; brother, David Alvarez, and Susan (Law) Alvarez; and many nieces and nephews.
Carmelo was born in Camuy Puerto Rico, and raised in Lorain. He loved to make art, ranging from paintings to various carvings. He ordained each of his works with symbology reflecting his journey through life.
Carmelo served in the Navy, and learned all he could from the Bible and other religious books. Carmelo loved the Lord, and loved to worship until the end of his journey. He will forever live in our hearts, as well as his many works of art. Carmelo was preceded in death by his father, Inocencio Alvarez Mercado and his mother, Carmen Elena (Caceres) Alvarez.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2 at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Road, Sheffield Twp. from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 pm.
